United Nations Human Rights Council
The Human Rights Council is the United Nations’ body responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the world. While the UN has adopted the broad cause of furthering human rights through its charter, the 47 member Human Rights Council serves as the primary forum for dialogue and intergovernmental cooperation on human rights related issues and situations. The Council was established by UN Resolution A/RES/60/251 in 2006, and is tasked with investigating human rights violations and making recommendations on important human rights topics. Bearing this mission in mind, the Human Rights Council at CMUNNY will endeavor to address stateless and foreign fighters as well as targeted killings and drone strikes, two issues with great influence on the global condition of human rights today.
This will be simulated as a General Assembly style committee.
