Il Fiore del Partigiano: Italian Liberation War, 1943

After the arrest of Benito Mussolini and the elimination of the Fascist Party, things looked pretty good for Italy. Then, September 12, Nazi Germany found the dictator and began invading the peninsula, installing a puppet government headed by the newly freed Mussolini. In response, a group of anti-Fascist Partisans came together to form the National Liberation Committee (CLN)—a diverse group of parties united to destroy the Italian Social Republic. Though united in their goal, the group was divided in ideology. Some wanted anarchy, while others wanted a Christian Democracy; some wanted communism, while others wanted a liberal republic. To win the war, the Partisans will have to settle their differences and work together to push Germany out of their country.
